Mayberry Wine

Kristi Casey and Steven Glude met three times before it stuck.

The first time was on Kristi’s first day of kindergarten. Steven was one of several neighborhood kids that walked her to school.

The second time was high school, when Steven directed Kristi in a play.

The third time was the charm: connecting at a mutual friend’s concert. A few weeks later we started playing music together. The songs started coming soon after.

Together, they are Mayberry Wine. Their music is by turns sweet, sultry, passionate, and playful. Americana is the best way to describe our songs, which comprise multiple genres, from folk and Rockabilly to blues, jazz and neo-soul.

They both are singer/songwriter/musicians, although some of their favorite compositions were written in a style they call ‘Reese’s Love,’ with Steven’s music wrapped around Kristi’s lyrics. Read on to learn more about the musicians behind Mayberry Wine.

You may have caught them at MadLife Stage & Studio, Eddie's Attic, Waller's Coffee Shop, Suburban Tap, FoxSaid Fest or Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Arts Center. They regularly play at venues throughout North Georgia, Athens and the metro Atlanta area.

Veteran musician Steven Glude has written hundreds of original songs. Former frontman for Lucky Chucka Boom, he’s appeared on stages across America, Europe and Asia. We hear he’s big in the Philippines, where he appeared singing original work on national TV. His inventive guitar compositions are the backbone of the Mayberry Wine sound, and his compositional touches can be felt throughout the band’s catalogue. Lyrically, he brings a playful intelligence and mature optimism to Mayberry Wine’s songs.

​Creative alchemist Kristi Casey is a veteran of stages around the world and a former cast member of the legendary Boom Chicago Comedy Theatre in Amsterdam. A multi-instrumentalist, she plays a variety of woodwind and stringed instruments for Mayberry Wine. A prolific writer and visual artist, she is the author of several books of sci-fi/fantasy, nonfiction, poetry and art. But some of her favorite works are the songs she creates and plays for Mayberry Wine. Her unconventional harmonies and lyrical poetry infuse the band’s music with magic and a sense of wonder.
